Frequently asked questions about our approach and work

  1. How do you go about devising marketing plans for your clients?

We spend time learning about the business to identify opportunities and challenges which will impact on its marketing goals. This can involve interviewing stakeholders and/or conducting workshops, assessing the company’s markets, customer profiles and buying processes, reviewing marketing systems and collateral, and undertaking competitor research.  We translate this insight into a highly practical, concise and achievable plan focused 100% on the organisation’s goals.

  1. Do you just provide marketing plans or can you help us implement them?

Whilst our marketing plans are easy to implement, we can also provide ongoing support.  This is particularly popular with clients who don’t have or want to take on marketing staff, but who do want specialist input to get marketing projects actioned quickly and successfully.

  1. Do you work on a project or retainer basis?

We can offer both options.  With retainer work we typically deliver a dedicated amount of support per month and that varies according to a client’s requirements and budget.  We don’t, however, tie our clients into fixed contracts and are happy to stick to a flexible arrangement where they can turn up or down our support, according to their needs and priorities.

  1. What sort of issues and opportunities do businesses typically come to you with?

Businesses come to us for help with all sorts of marketing issues.  These have included attracting new customers, entering a new market, increasing customer loyalty and repeat sales, branding and reputation management, marketing content creation, digital marketing and help with their online and social media presence.

  1. What results have you generated?

We have helped many businesses achieve the goals they came to us with.  You can find out more on our testimonials page and also on our Google Review page.  Our clients often tell us it’s refreshing to find marketing consultants who enable them to tick more off their to-do lists and enable them to complete projects to time and budget.

  1. What specialisms and expertise do you have in the team?

We have significant experience and a proven track-record in business to business (B2B) marketing and particularly with those businesses who sell expertise and services. Michelle Daniels is a Chartered Marketer with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has over 15 years’ experience in senior marketing roles. Our hands-on approach focuses on helping clients get their business to be where they want it to be and beyond.  We have built a reputation as a marketing consultancy that excels at ‘getting things done’.

  1. How well do you know the local area and its marketing opportunities?

We have been based in Surrey for almost 10 years.  During that time we’ve forged great links with the local business community and have been involved in the management teams at both Godalming Chamber of Commerce and The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Surrey branch.  We are highly familiar with the Surrey area and the marketing opportunities it holds for businesses. We draw on this knowledge when advising our clients.

  1. What added value do you deliver to clients?

Clients often say they value our proactivity and the commercial outlook we bring. During, and in between, projects we often alert them to any additional opportunities/issues that suddenly arise and which will benefit or impact on their business.  We have also introduced relevant client contacts to one another to help their businesses and professional networks.  On top of this we regularly publish fresh marketing thinking on our website and signpost latest developments and interesting marketing issues on our twitter, LinkedIn.

  1. What does it take to be a good marketing consultant?

It really helps to keep up with the latest developments in customer behaviour, marketing technology and trends.  It all changes very quickly.  At the same time, you can’t beat solid experience and commerciality – the ability to look broadly and objectively at what’s going on and how this will impact on an organisation’s goals and operations.  Over the years we have been very fortunate to work with a large number of businesses in a variety of sectors, and each with very different marketing objectives and requirements.  We use the experience and insight we have gained to benefit our clients and ensure any learning curve on both sides is relatively short.

For those looking to become a marketing consultant, you may find this article helpful.  We’d also recommend getting qualifications from The Chartered Institute of Marketing, as we have found hugely beneficial over the years.
